Shropshire Music Service took live performance on the road again this November with its annual Live Music Week tour.

Staff travelled across the county to share the excitement of real music played by real musicians, bringing professional performances straight into school halls in every region of Shropshire.

Live Music Week gives children and young people the chance to experience the power and energy of a live ensemble in the comfort of their own school.

Each SMS band performs a rich mix of music, from chart favourites and film classics to the work of famous composers and traditional pieces from around the world.

The result is an uplifting concert that sparks curiosity and shows pupils the creativity that music can inspire.

During each visit, SMS staff introduce every instrument one by one, demonstrating its tone, character and role within the wider ensemble.

This year’s programme included Offenbachs famous Can Can, Wonderwall by Oasis and film themes from Pirates of the Caribbean and No Time to Die. Recent chart toppers were a real hit too, especially Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan and Golden from KPop Demon Hunters, both met with huge smiles and enthusiastic applause.

Schools across the county shared glowing feedback.

Market Drayton Infants and Junior School described Live Music Week as a wonderfully inclusive experience for their pupils, while Norton in Hales CE Nursery and Primary praised the clear instrument demonstrations and the way the musicians made everything accessible.

Coleham Primary School noted that the programme was pitched perfectly for all year groups and said it was so lovely to see the whole school community joining together in musical celebration. Happy faces and so much joy captured the spirit of the week perfectly.

Live Music Week remains one of the most exciting parts of the SMS calendar, giving every child across Shropshire the chance to enjoy inspiring live music and discover the thrill of performance.
